In this post, “what I know” will be narrowed down to knowing better than to set myself on fire.
I know better than to set myself on fire because I've seen so many times on the news how people get horrible burns, or even die, when exposed to fire for extended periods of time. Captain Obvious once told me fire is hot, and that hot surfaces tend to burn. Of course, I've also learned from experience, by getting scalded, touching something really hot and feeling pain, and what-have-you. Of course, we didn't know things like this when we were younger, so we would learn these things from our parents, PSA's, warning labels, etc.
In the end, how you know what you know boils down to learning from experience, like trial-and-error, or it can be from outside sources, like literature, our education, parents, teachers, that wise old sage in every movie, etc. These outside sources can be practically anything that teaches or shows you something.
